God Knows, Time Tells:
An Exhibition of Perseverance
Purpose and Legacy
February - March 2025
In this exhibition, Christie Harwell illustrates and channels the grand tapestry of life, where perseverance becomes the backbone of the journey, regardless of the inevitable good, bad, and ugly moments that shape collective experiences. Her vibrant canvases tell of a very personal story that is also universal as Christie steps aside, becoming a medium and letting the works communicate, which they do powerfully.
Christie searches for Ikigai, or finding true purpose which translates into making every effort and setback meaningful. By daring to be different, she embraces the uniqueness of her own path and as a result she stands out in a world of influencers that often pressures towards conformity. The boldness of her work is also driven by her realization that no one knows how long they will live, making every moment precious and every endeavor significant.
Christie states: "The good times uplift us, the bad times test our resilience, and the ugly moments teach us invaluable lessons. With perseverance and faith as our steadfast companions, we hold on to the belief that while the length of our lives is unknown, God knows our hearts and the impact of our efforts. In due time, the beauty and meaning of our climb will unfold, illustrating the profound journey of a life well-lived."
This exhibition underscores that time tells the stories of resilience, dedication, and the impact of both the living and the departed. Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic "I've Been to the Mountaintop" speech, she reflects on his enduring legacy and how others continue the fight for justice and equality. Dr. King's vision was not just for his time, but for generations to come, highlighting that the universe—or a higher power—has a plan, and we are all small, yet significant parts of it.
Through this collection of art, Christie explores the profound impact of perseverance and faith. She honors the unsung heroes who have quietly contributed to shaping a better world, and recognizes the ongoing efforts of those who carry forward the torch of change.
In this exhibition Christie invites us to contemplate and celebrate our own journeys in finding our Ikigai, and to appreciate the interconnectedness of perseverance, purpose, and legacy in the grand design of the universe and how time reveals the true beauty of our endeavors and the lasting impact we leave behind.
