Elfreda Dali

Elfreda Dali is a London based multidisciplinary artist working across figurative textile art, wearable forms and diasporic storytelling.  In her experience growing up between London and Lagos her practice is guided by the belief that cloth can hold memory, preserve identity and serve as a vessel for navigating histories.

Drawing on a background in fashion design, Dali creates layered compositions that sit between textile, painting and sculpture, using material as both medium and archive.  Working with dead stock fabrics, off-cuts and repurposed materials, her practice is rooted in processes of renewal. Through stitching, layering and reconstruction, she transforms overlooked materials into works that carry traces of previous lives, reflecting themes of identity, migration, geography and belonging.

With the intersection of cultural memory and contemporary art her work has been featured internationally by institutions including The V&A Museum, Royal Albert Hall, Southbank Centre London and Somerset House. She has also been invited to lecture at Ravensbourne and Northampton University and has worked with brands and artists including UGG, Adidas and Grammy award winning Tems.

At the core of her practice is intentional craftsmanship, storytelling, and using textiles as a way to carry personal and collective histories across borders.
