Craig Lou Butts

Craig Lou Butts (b. 1981) is a travel storyteller, filmmaker, photographer, and self-taught visual artist whose work is rooted in documenting real places, real people, and the experiences that connect us across cultures. Through cinematic journeys and fine art photography, he explores the world beyond the surface—capturing moments that reflect the energy, history, people, and spirit of a destination.

Though his lens has traveled across continents, Atlanta remains the city that shaped him most. Having lived in Atlanta for more than 23 years—longer than anywhere else—it is here that Craig built his creative foundation. These streets became his classroom, where he taught himself photography, videography, photo manipulation, framing, storytelling, and the technical relationship between shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. Atlanta’s neighborhoods, skyline, culture, and constant movement helped shape him into the artist, biographer, and content creator he is today—someone dedicated to preserving moments, telling stories, and turning everyday life into lasting visual narratives.

From vibrant city streets to quiet landscapes, each journey becomes more than travel—it becomes a story meant to be felt, remembered, and shared. Through This Is Somewhere, Craig transforms lived experiences into visual narratives that invite viewers to see the world differently—and bring a piece of that journey home.
